See that little Book Binge button in my right hand column? Over there ——->, yes that one! I participated in Mary P’s Book Binge and today is the day all participants post what they read in April. So without further ado, here are the books I read:
NINETEEN MINUTES by Jodi Picout: A lot has been blogged about this book - which is part of the reason I wanted to read it. I finished this one before the tragedy at Virginia Tech but those events made me think even more about the book. I know for some that were bullied as kids, this book was painful to read. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a really good read - despite it’s potentially painful subject matter.
LIFE’S A BEACH by Claire Cook: This was a really fun read. The main character was really quirky and funny and I found myself picturing her in real life. I really enjoyed this and was lucky enough to have a sneak peak at it - it’s not available until June 5. It’s fluffy but fun fluffy. A great beach or pool read.
ABSOLUTE FEAR by Lisa Jackson: In March I read my first novel by Lisa Jackson and liked it so much I decided to read her latest. I really enjoyed it as well. Her books are very fast paced and while graphic (violence) at times, they really grabbed my attention.
JOHNNY ANGEL by Danielle Steele: I’m actually somewhat embarrassed to list that I actually read this book. It’s typical Danielle Steele - lots of fluff and you can check your brain at the door before reading it. Anyhow, apparently I’m not too embarrassed as I have just told the world I read it.
SAMMY’S HOUSE by Kristin Gore: Yes, Kristin Gore as in daughter of Al Gore is the author. She is a really funny writer. This is her second book in the series - I now have to go back and read the first one. The main character is Sammy (Samantha) a White House aide who is somewhat socially challenged but brilliant. It was a very fun read. Again, I was lucky to have an advance copy as it is not available until July 3. This would be another fun vacation, beach or pool read.
Check out Mary P’s site for more book reviews! Happy reading!

First of all, congrats on reading that many books in April, I haven’t even finished one!!!! Which I’m so embarrassed to admit! What is your secret? I’m guessing you watch a lot less TV than I do, for starters…
Second, how are you getting sneak peeks of books? I’m now convinced that you’re got some kind of super cool job that you’ve been downplaying this whole time!
May 1st, 2007 at 11:48 amHow do you find time to read with 2 kids? I read one book all month long.
Those all sound like good reads, well, except for Danielle Steel, I’m not a fan of hers.
I would like to know how you got these “sneak peeks”??
May 1st, 2007 at 12:28 pmOh I love sneek peeks! When I worked in a bookstore I used to get advance copies, but all the mistakes used to drive me crazy.
You read a lot! I had said I would keep a list on my blog of what I read in 2007 on my blog, but I haven’t got around to it, I don’t think I’m averaging that many a month though…too much blogging!
May 1st, 2007 at 1:53 pmOh and just so you have it, my email address is catwoman.in.texas@gmail.com
May 1st, 2007 at 2:14 pmYeah, where do you get sneak peeks? I want some!
May 1st, 2007 at 8:52 pmGood for you for reading all those books in April. I am going to keep a running list of my ‘reads’ I think because I forget what I’ve read! I haven’t read any of the books you’ve read…hmmm perhaps I shall look into some of them. Oh and I’m also guessing you don’t watch alot of tv, I know since I gave up all but two shows a week I’ve managed to read alot more…oh and blog ALOT more.
May 1st, 2007 at 9:08 pmGood grief, you got a lot of reading done! Thanks for the reviews, I am definitely going to be reading some of these.
May 2nd, 2007 at 8:13 amWow, great job! I wish I had time to finish even one book
May 2nd, 2007 at 8:46 amHow is it that you get advance copies? Part of your job? Wish I had that job! Good reviews, I’ll have to check the Gore ones out. I’m reading Woman at the Washington Zoo right now.
May 2nd, 2007 at 11:46 amThanks for posting these. I might have to read the Jodi Picoult even though I was taking a break from her books (they were all starting to feel the same).
And I will probably need a couple of beach reads on vacation.
